You can use Zkt Timer in a browser or through the iOS and Android apps. With an account your solves are backed up to the server, so your data survives losing the device. Seeing that history on every device you sign in on comes with Pro; without it, your solves stay on the device that made them.
You can also try it without an account. Signed out, the timer, your solves and the trainer all work; the times stay on that device only. If you sign up later, the app offers to move those solves into your account.
On desktop there are three menus across the top: session, cube type and timer type. The scramble sits below them, the time in the middle, and your solve list and stat modules underneath.
Settings are split into seven sections: Timer, Scramble, Hardware, Appearance, Stats, Data and Language. If you are not sure which section holds the setting you want, use the search box inside settings.
Hold the space bar, let go when the timer turns green, and the time starts. Press any key to stop. On mobile you press and release the middle of the screen.
With inspection on, a 15-second countdown runs before the time starts. Following the WCA rule, going past 15 seconds is a +2 and going past 17 is a DNF. Escape cancels the countdown.
A scramble is generated after every solve. Tap the scramble to copy it, and use the arrows beside it to move between the previous and next scrambles.
You pick the timer type from the menu at the top. These are the supported inputs:
| Keyboard | The default. Space bar on desktop, a tap on the screen on mobile. |
| Virtual cube | Turn an on-screen cube entirely with the keyboard. Space applies the scramble, the first move starts the timer and solving it stops the timer. |
| Wired Timer | The competition timer. Plugs into the headphone jack and the time is read from the device. |
| Smart Cube | A Bluetooth cube. The timer starts when you turn it and stops when the cube is solved. |
| GAN Smart Timer | GAN's timer, connected over Bluetooth. |
| QiYi Smart Timer | QiYi's timer, connected over Bluetooth. |
Manual entry sits in the same menu and works differently: no stopwatch runs, you type the time in yourself.
Smart cube, GAN Timer and QiYi Timer require Pro inside rooms. On the timer page all three are open to everyone.
The list under the timer shows the solves in that session. Tapping a time opens the detail window: you can add a penalty, write a note, look at the scramble and the solve breakdown, or delete the solve.
The +2 and DNF buttons right below the timer always apply to your last solve.
The solves page gathers every solve into one list. You can filter by time range, by penalty, by whether the solve was done with a smart cube and by whether it was imported, and sort by time or by date.
The same page has multi-select: tick several solves and delete them in one go.
A session is a list you keep your solves apart in: warm-up, 3x3 practice, one-handed and so on. You switch between them from the session menu at the top. On the sessions page you create a session, rename it, drag to reorder, merge two of them, or select several and delete them. Averages are worked out per session.
The stats page offers two views. The overview shows where you stand across every cube type, your activity heat map and how many solves you do per day.
Picking a cube type opens the view for that cube: your best single and averages, a timeline, consistency by hour of day, a solve calendar and the phase breakdown of solves done with a smart cube.
The filters at the top choose the session, the cube type, the subset (3x3 One-Handed, for instance) and how many recent solves to look at. Your choices are written into the address bar, so you can share a link to a particular view.
Two sections built on smart cube data come with Pro: average phase times and case-by-case statistics.
The trainer is for drilling algorithms and has four modes. Time and success rate are kept per algorithm, so the cases you are weak on stand out.
The PLL recognition mode has its own history, settings and glossary; the history page lets you compare earlier rounds.
Drilling algorithms with a smart cube, and downloading algorithms with their alternatives as a PDF, both require Pro.
Zkt Timer recognises smart cubes from these brands:
Once connected, the cube's state appears on screen in 3D. The timer starts when you turn the cube and stops on its own when the cube is solved.
In a browser this needs Web Bluetooth: use Chrome or Edge, Safari does not support it. The iOS and Android apps have no such limit.
If the cube on screen drifts from the real one, set the cube to solved and sync again. If the connection drops, power-cycle the cube and scan again.
Step-by-step analysis after a solve comes with Pro: Cross, F2L, OLL and PLL times, move count, turns per second and a replay of the solve.
On mobile the menus live in thin notches at the edges of the screen. Tap the right-hand notch or swipe left from it: the timer, stats, trainer, rooms and the other pages are there. The left notch opens the quick settings.
Press and hold a notch to move it up or down. Notches hide while the timer is running, so they cannot be opened by accident.
To go back from a page, swipe right from the left edge of the screen. It is switched off on the timer page, where the left edge belongs to the quick settings notch. In the Android app the system's own back button does this instead.
Rooms are for solving the same scramble as your friends. Everyone gets the same scramble and the times show up on everyone's screen.
A room holds 8 people by default and the owner can raise that to 16. You can make a room private and put a password on it. Everything from 2x2 to 7x7 is supported, plus Clock, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb, Square-1 and FTO.
The owner chooses which timer types are allowed. Smart cube, GAN Timer and QiYi Timer require Pro inside rooms; keyboard, StackMat, QYtoys and manual entry are open to everyone.
If you would rather watch than solve, you can switch to spectator mode. Spectators do not hold up the round.
There are three ranks: owner, moderator and participant. A moderator can kick and ban participants but cannot touch another moderator or the owner. Only the owner can appoint moderators and hand over the room.
Tap the round number, or any time in the table, to see that round's scramble again.
A chat message can be at most 500 characters.
Playing music in a room requires Pro.
Battle is a two-player duel on a single phone. The screen splits in half, the far player's side is turned upside down, and two people sit facing each other and solve the same scramble. Mobile only.
A round does not begin until both players hold the screen and go ready. Once both are ready, each player lifts their finger whenever they like and their own timer starts at that moment.
When a round ends the times stay on screen. The next round opens with a fresh scramble as soon as both players hold again.
The menu lets you switch sides, get a new scramble, delete the last round or start a fresh battle.
The time, scramble, names, statistics, score and win streak displays can each be turned off on their own.
Battle rounds stay on the device and are not saved to your solve history.
Messages is where you talk one to one with other Zkt Timer users. To start a conversation, search for a username and pick the person.
Someone writing to you for the first time does not land straight in your inbox; they wait in the Requests tab. Accept and the thread moves to your inbox. If you would rather not, you can delete it or block the person.
You can attach one of your solves to a conversation. The other person sees the time and can open the solve's detail.
Message settings live under Social in the account section: who is allowed to write to you, whether you appear in message search, read receipts, the typing indicator and the online dot. Your blocked list is kept there too.
Deleting a chat removes it from your side only; the other person keeps their copy.
When you report, a copy of the last five messages is sent for review. None of your other messages are read.
You can mute a conversation, filter the inbox down to unread, and search your history from the search box.
The competitions page carries both WCA and Zeka Küpü Türkiye competitions. Upcoming competitions, ZKT competitions and the search box are all on the same page. If you linked your WCA account, your own registrations are listed separately under My Competitions.
Opening a competition gives you these tabs: Groups (the competitor list and assignments), live results, Events (rounds, formats and cutoffs), Rankings, Schedule (the whole programme) and Info.
ZKT competitions use the same page; only the live tab is named ZKT Live instead of WCA Live.
Tapping a competitor opens their schedule, groups and duties, with judging, running and scrambling shown separately. Their personal bests page is reachable from there too.
The rankings page is separate and is built on WCA results: Kinch Ranks plus Sum of Ranks for single and average. You need a linked WCA account to appear in those lists.
The records section shows recently broken records. Getting record alerts, and following up to five competitors in a competition, requires Pro.
Your profile is your public face on Zkt Timer. It lives at /user/yourusername and opens for anyone, signed in or not, so the link is all you need to share.
A cover photo and profile picture sit at the top, with the About section below: biography, YouTube, Twitch and X links, your 3x3 method, your goal, your main cube and your favourite event.
Records are split across tabs. Personal Records come from the solves you did in Zkt Timer. WCA Official Records and ZKT Records come from the accounts you linked. The WCA Results tab lists your competition history round by round.
Your times do not appear on the profile on their own. You pick which ones show, one by one, from the publish screen.
Publishing your personal records on your profile requires Pro. Showing your WCA and ZKT records does not.
Create Cuber Card produces a shareable image that gathers your competition count, medals and records into one frame.
On someone else's profile you can send a message, copy the profile link and report them.
The account page has seven sections: Personal Info, Notifications, Social, Linked Accounts, Announcements, Support and Danger Zone.
Personal Info is where you change your name, username and email, and set your password. An email change is confirmed with a six-digit code sent to the new address. If your account was created through WCA, this is also where you set a password so you can sign in with email as well.
Linked Accounts is where you connect your ZKT and WCA accounts. Once linked, that account's competitions, results and records become visible inside Zkt Timer. The link to join the WhatsApp community is here too.
Support is where you report a bug, ask a question or send a suggestion. A ticket works like a conversation: you can reply, attach a screenshot or video, close it once it is solved and reopen it later.
One file per message, up to 25 MB. Images can be PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP; videos can be MP4, WebM or MOV.
The Danger Zone holds two actions. Resetting settings leaves your solves and sessions alone and does not touch your custom cube types; it only returns your settings to their defaults. Deleting your account erases all of your data permanently.
To unlink a connected account you need a password set first, otherwise you would be left with no way to sign in.
You can bring data in from these sources:
Go to Settings > Data > Import, pick the source and upload your file.
Export sits in the same place and writes all your solves, sessions and settings into one file.
While you are signed in, your solves are backed up to the server. The app keeps working without internet, and pending solves are sent once the connection comes back.
You can delete your account and all of your data permanently from the Danger Zone in the account section.
Shortcuts work on desktop while the timer is stopped. On a Mac you can use Command in place of Ctrl.
| Space | Starts and stops the timer |
| Esc | Resets the inspection countdown |
| 1 | Clears the penalty on the last solve |
| 2 | Adds a +2 to the last solve |
| 3 | Marks the last solve DNF |
| Alt+Z | Deletes the last solve |
| Ctrl+Backspace | Deletes every solve in the session |
| Alt+I | Turns inspection on and off |
| Alt+2 … 7 | Switches the puzzle between 2x2 and 7x7 |
| Alt+P / M / C / S | Pyraminx, Megaminx, Clock, Skewb |
